More than 280 studies on PubMed & 9 studies on the ACTIVATOR℗ Poles clearly identify poling, with proper training, as a healthy mode of physical activity with proven benefits.
Benefits may include:
Normalized gait pattern
Improved posture
Decreased pain
Increased core strength
Increased walking tolerance
Increased range of motion
Reduced pressure on the knee joint
Poling may help with;
Hip & knee osteoarthritis
Ankle injuries
Spinal injuries
Shoulder injuries (for example, rotator cuff)
Knee injuries (for example ACL)
Cross training & injury prevention
Concussions
I have had 7 major spine surgeries for congenital spinal stenosis and two major fracture dislocations of L3 and L2. Now fused from T9 to S2 and using a body brace. In my right leg, there is no sensation, no proprioception and loss of quad and hip flexion power. I was able to walk using Activator poles for 3 hours per day at 14 months post op. With a body brace leaning over a walker or to one side with a cane doesn't make sense. The upright posture and off loading with poles is also better for hip and knee OA and ankle injuries.
