Walking Towards Clarity in June: The Benefits of Exercise for Alzheimer’s Disease

This month is all about Alzheimer’s awareness, the most common form of dementia. Alzheimer’s affects both memory and everyday living skills and greatly impacts not only the patient but the entire family. Although it’s most common among the elderly, it can affect those under 65 as well. There is currently no cure for Alzheimer’s, and it continues to be one of the leading causes of death in the United States.

So, is there anything we can do? Most definitely! We can take active measures today to help delay the start of Alzheimer’s for those more at risk of developing the disease, or at least delay its progression.  When it comes to the ever-important grey matter, studies show that regular exercise goes a long way for brain health and cognitive function.

Walking is a simple, accessible, low-impact and highly beneficial form of exercise for all ages and fitness levels that can easily be added to our daily routines. Why not take it to the next level with a pair of Urban or Activator poles and benefit from the added health perks?

Enhanced Brain Function:  The rhythmic motion of urban poling engages both lower and upper body muscles, promoting increased blood flow to the brain, supporting brain health and cognitive function.
