The Canadian Physiotherapy Association recognizes Urban Poling as a “Big Boost to your Health”

A newly published article featured on the Canadian Physiotherapy Association’s (CPA) blog titled “What Type of Walking Offers a Big Boost To Your Health” discusses the ins and outs of Nordic Walking, highlights the many benefits and even debunks common misconceptions of the sport.
Here is a brief excerpt from the article highlighting the difference between Nordic Walking Poles and Ski Poles:
“Nordic walking poles aren’t hiking or ski poles: they’re poles designed to use when walking or hiking that, when combined with the proper form, can instantly rev up the intensity of your movement and also challenge your upper body and core muscles.”

Use the standard rhythm and technique, but swing both arms forward at the same time planting the boot tips slightly behind the handles. Then, keeping your arms straight, press down on the base of the handles, walk between your poles and feel your arms extend past your thighs and behind your body.
