Urban Poling is thrilled to announce that the National Indian Council on Aging (NICOA) will be presenting the American Indian Elders Conference from August 1st to the 6th at the Nugget Resort and Casino. “Resilience for Tomorrow…Together” is the theme of the conference and is the only national aging conference in the country focusing exclusively on the needs of American Indian and Alaska Native elders. It will offer the opportunity to elevate American Indian politics and legislation issues and focus on health, safety, financial management, elder abuse, caregiving, employment, retirement, and the Older Americans Act. The conference will also have a focus on Diabetes management and help mitigate the risk of falls. In the U.S, 34.1 million adults aged 18 years or older suffer from diabetes, and 3 million older adults are treated in the emergency department for fall injuries and from which 800,000 need to be hospitalized. The great news is that diabetes and falls can be preventable locally and globally at an early stage in life and action can be taken by all. Urban Poling has the vitality to guide and improve the lives of those who have previously experienced or that are living with the risks of diabetes and falls.
