The Home Modification Occupational Therapy Alliance (HMOTA) is a global
community of over 2,000 occupational therapists dedicated to advancing home
modifications for people at risk of falls and those seeking safer living spaces.
Founded in 2015, HMOTA connects specialized therapists and provides a platform
for sharing expertise, solving accessibility challenges, and promoting innovative
solutions. Members also connect in a dedicated community forum at
https://hmota.net/ where they can share resources, post links to their blogs, and
engage in meaningful online discussions.
HMOTA’s main goals are to position occupational therapists as leaders in home
modification, support business development, and enhance members’ expertise in
new techniques and technologies. The Alliance offers online meetings and
opportunities to learn and network exclusively with other occupational therapists
and certified assistants.
We recently collaborated with HMTOA by presenting at their September webinar
where we explored how Activator poles can be integrated into therapy and everyday
living for those who are at risk of falls. This collaboration exemplifies our shared
commitment to innovation and ongoing professional development and growth within
the home modification community.
For those passionate about making homes safer and more accessible, HMOTA are
the people to know—where knowledge, collaboration, and leadership come together
to transform lives. Urban Poling is Proud to collaborate with HMTOA- for Healthier,
Safer Living at Home. It all begins with a healthy first step forward!
