Dr. Joy A Cochran is a physical therapist passionate about treating the neurologic and older adult populations. She feels there is a disconnect between the current healthcare system and discharge to evidence-based fitness programs / re-integration back into the community. Joy graduated with her Doctor of Physical Therapy from Northern Illinois University in 2016. She is a Credentialed Balance and Falls Professional and Certified Exercise Expert for the Aging Adult (CEEAA) through the Academy of Geriatric Physical Therapy of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA), a Master Trainer for Urban Poling, and also holds certifications specific to treating Parkinson's Disease - PWR! Moves, Rock Steady Boxing (RSB), and LSVT BIG. Joy is experienced in treating complex conditions, such as; Parkinson's Disease (PD), Multiple Sclerosis (MS), Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), stroke, Spinal Cord Injury (SCI), amputees, balance, and vestibular.

Seventeen years ago, she developed the evidence-based ACTIVATOR® Poles (patented) and technique specifically for rehabilitation.

8,000 international therapists and instructors have completed her training programs on ACTIVATOR Walking Poles and Nordic walking for rehabilitation and fitness. She has in national media including; the Globe and Mail & CBC. She was a finalist in the prestigious YWCA Women of Distinction Award for Innovation & Entrepreneurship.

Cancellation Policy/Refund Policy: Course participants can expect a full refund (minus the $25 registration fee) up to one week prior to the course. Cancellations up to 48 hours prior to the course will receive 75% of the registration fee. With less than 48 hours notice, 50% of the registration fee will be returned.
