|The Canadian Volkssport Federation consists of 34 walking clubs across Canada who promote walking for fun, friendship, and fitness. The clubs have volunteers who lead group walks locally and set up walking routes for individuals to complete on their own. Walking routes have been set up in all provinces and territories. Achievement awards are earned for accumulated walking distances and participation in a variety of different walking programs. The Canadian Volkssport Federation is a member of the IVV – an international organization with walking groups in over 50 different countries. Every second year, a national walking convention is held.
