My physical therapist introduced me to these poles almost 3 years ago, and they’ve changed my life. I’d lost my left arm swing entirely due to Parkinson’s, and she had me start pole walking to see if I could regain any coordinated arm swing through the deliberate foot-arm pattern of pole walking. It worked! It not only worked, but I discovered a new wonderful gently aerobic workout that I now do every day, first thing in the morning, an hour of Nordic walking. It gets my body moving, and it’s lots of fun. “Exercise is medicine,” my doctor tells me, and I believe it. My Parkinson’s symptoms are much relieved, and I’m convinced it’s the Nordic walking that’s slowing symptom progression. My upper body, especially shoulders, is much stronger too. For me, these poles have been wonderful. My wife saw how much fun I was having with my blue 300 poles, asked if she could try them, loved them herself, so I got her a pair of pink For Life poles, and we walk together.

I’m a senior daily walker who’s developed advanced osteoarthritis and will be getting a hip replacement soon. I developed “fear in my feet” on downhill slopes especially because of pain and unreliability in my left leg on my walks. My surgeon felt that urban walking poles would be a great way to regain confidence. I found that they also help keep my spine erect, which alleviates back pressure and helps distribute the weight load while walking as well. These poles adjusted easily, and it did not take long to get into the rhythm of using them correctly. They’ve been life-changing for me during this time of physical challenge.

I love them. I love the workout it gives my upperarms. I have balance issues due to Parkinson’s and it gives me the stability i need.

The poles are well made and I am enjoying them. I will say learning to walk with proper form is not as easy as I thought it would be, but when my form is correct I can really feel it! I am looking forward to using them to help build up my endurance this year!
