International Women’s Day
March 8th is International Women’s Day and Urban Poling salutes all women who make a difference in the lives of others each and every day. We are proud to be 100% owned and operated by two amazing women, Mandy Shintani and Diana Oliver who are both certified through the WBENC (Women’s Business Enterprise National Council). This prestigious certification recognizes women that own control, operate and manage operate 51% of their businesses-here’s to women empowering other women! We also have bragging rights when it comes to our dedicated instructors who run successful businesses of their own. We hope that they will inspire all women to follow their dreams by “taking the first step”. A shout out to those who put their “best foot forward” and embarked on journeys of their own: Barb Gormley- Custom Fit; Mandy Johnson- Active by Nature Canmore; Kari Galasso-Fit to the Core; Nina Lepage-Nina’s Viking Hiking; Jessica Lewgood- KinFit Family Health & Wellness; Sarah Lord- Speak Up with Sarah Lord and Maritime Detours; Susan Yackulic- Get Fit Personal Training; Susan Yungblut- Ottawa Nordic Walks; Nadine Imblau-Redman-Nordic-WalkFit (originally founded by Wendi Paterson). Keep up the wonderful momentum!
Poles assist in maintaining proper posture but at times you may find yourself leaning forward. Remember to keep your spine erect, tummy tucked in, eyes forward, chin tucked and shoulders relaxed. And just one more thing to remember, have fun with it!
