Urban Poling ACTIVATOR Course for College and University Students

This program is designed for students currently registered in a diploma or degree program geared towards therapists, fitness trainers and health care professionals. It provides in-depth training on how to use the ACTIVATOR poles as an effective tool for rehabilitation with those individuals with chronic conditions and recovering from injuries and for older adults who seek better balance and stability.

The course covers an overview of the research and assessment tools, followed by practical sessions that teach the basic ACTIVATOR technique, balance and strength exercises with the ACTIVATOR poles and modified techniques for clients with chronic conditions and less-active older adults.

Going uphill

Keep your poles more upright and in front of you. Lean forward slightly, and use the poles to help push you up the hill. If necessary, bend your elbows, but remember to transition back to the straight arm technique at the top of the hill
